Chillon Castle – a flagship stop on the Swiss tourist trail.
As a flagship stop for tourists on the Swiss heritage trail, the Chillon Castle Foundation has partnered with Swiss Travel System to offer you the chance to explore the rooms of our ancient monument, as well as our contemporary art exhibitions, free of charge! All you need to do is purchase a Swiss Travel Pass, with the ‘Swiss Museum Pass’ option.

This combined offer gives you added peace of mind as you head off on your adventure. With just one card, you get unlimited access to almost all the entire Swiss public transport network. No more last-minute stress! Just choose the length of your stay (3, 4, 6, 8, or 15 days) and save precious holiday time.
You can also opt for the Swiss Travel Pass Flex to choose flexible travel dates within the same month.
All roads lead to Chillon!
This pass gets you to Chillon Castle in one of three ways:
- CFF SBB FFS Train: take in the sublime view over Lake Geneva and the Alps. The railway runs along the waterfront, transporting you through the region’s most unique landscape. You can take the direct train to Montreux, or take the local stopping service to Veytaux-Chillon, which is just 500 metres from our cultural side (10 mins. on foot).
- VMCV bus: explore the surrounding towns of Vevey, Montreux or Villeneuve by bus, with connections every 10-20 minutes. If you fancy it, why not get off a few stops early and finish your journey on foot? Take a stroll along the magnificent flower-lined Montreux quays (approx. 45 minutes).
- CGN Boat: sit back and relax as you take in the breathtaking view over the lake, looking out towards France and the Alps. The boat docks at the castle jetty, just 100 metres from the entrance. One of the main highlights of this route is the incredible view of the residential wing of the fortress, where you’ll spot the famous Bernese flag and the ancient Savoy vineyard – a true glimpse of the castle’s history. There are regular departures from Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux and Villeneuve in peak season.

- L’option « train CFF SBB FFS» vous permet d’observer le lac Léman et la vue sublime sur les Alpes. - L’option « bus des VMCV » vous invite à découvrir les villes environnantes comme Vevey, Montreux ou Villeneuve, en bus, avec une correspondance toutes les 10 à 20 minutes. Si l’envie vous prend, vous pouvez même vous arrêter au milieu de votre parcours et poursuivre votre chemin à pied, sur les magnifiques quais de Montreux sur la promenade des fleurs (environ 45 min.).
- L’option « bateau CGN » vous invite à vous détendre et à profiter de la vue exceptionnelle sur le lac, la France et les Alpes. Un amarrage est prévu au débarcadère du château, situé à 100m de l’entrée. Vous pouvez notamment découvrir la vue splendide sur la face résidentielle de la forteresse, observer le célèbre drapeau bernois et admirer le vignoble historique de la famille de Savoie, qui marquent l’histoire du château. Les croisières sont régulières depuis Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux et Villeneuve en haute saison.
