Drones
The use of drones is strictly prohibited on the Chillon Castle Foundation site in order to:
- Preserve the integrity of the historical monument
- Keep our visitors safe
- Protect the surrounding flora and fauna
Furthermore, in accordance with guidance from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), unmanned aircraft are prohibited from flying within the Grangettes Nature Reserve.
- As an internationally significant resting, migration and hibernation spot for numerous birds, this is a protected area.
- The Swiss Ornithological Institute has found that aircraft can threaten the survival of bird species and their ability to reproduce.
In exceptional circumstances, permission for the use of drones on site may be granted by Chillon Castle Foundation management, subject to strict pre-determined conditions. Requests must be submitted in writing at least two months in advance via our request form.
